DE: Sometimes all it takes is an evening, a good meal, a few glasses of wine – and suddenly a time long past is back. I recently had a visit in London from an old acquaintance from Berlin. D. and I have known each other since the 1970s. What binds us is a shared experience that has left a lasting mark on both of us: the alternative educational project, the ‘School for Adult Education’ in Berlin. He worked there as a chemistry teacher whilst I was a student taking my A-levels.
